The Spaulding Woods 50K is run in support of Spaulding Academy & Family Services. Spaulding Academy is one of the oldest organizations in the nation serving children in need. They provide community-based services, academics, clinical services, outdoor challenges, and health & wellness programs.
The course consists of six 5.6-mile loops through the trails of Spaulding Woods in Northfield, NH. Is it longer than a standard 50K? Absolutely! Expect to navigate rocks, roots, and countless twists and turns, totaling over 34 miles and 4,200 feet of cumulative gain. Each step you take on this trail brings you closer to a well-earned finish.
Prefer trails over roads? So do we. The Spaulding Woods 50K is 100% trail, primarily singletrack with a small portion of doubletrack. You will have access to a well-stocked aid station, crewed by our dedicated team of volunteers supporting you every step of the race. The Spaulding Woods 50K is ideal for those attempting their first ultra, as well as for experienced runners who want to push their limits chasing a top time.
To finish the full 50K ultramarathon, each runner will have ten hours to complete six laps. There is a strict 8hr cutoff to begin the last lap. Any runner not on their sixth lap before the 8hr cutoff time will not be permitted to continue.
To minimize the race’s impact on the trail system, pacers are not allowed. For safety reasons, we do not allow animals (including dogs), drones, strollers, or bikes, and headphones are discouraged.
